How HomeCodeFix articles are researched, written, checked and corrected.
Every error code meaning on HomeCodeFix is checked against an official source: the manufacturer’s owner’s manual, its US support or help pages, or its published service literature. Where helpful we add reputable independent sources such as the US Department of Energy, ENERGY STAR or the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Each article lists its sources at the bottom and links to them.
Guides for gas appliances include clear gas safety steps, and any fix behind a panel starts with cutting power at the breaker. When a repair involves gas lines, sealed refrigeration systems, high voltage or garage door springs, we tell you to call a qualified professional.
Each article shows its last updated date. We review our most-read guides every 90 days, re-check the manufacturer sources and improve the answers. We only change the date when the content changes in a meaningful way.
If you find an error, please tell us through our contact form and choose “Correction to an article”. Include the article link and what you believe is wrong. We review every correction request and update the article when it is confirmed.
